Unit 9 – What’s the weather like?
1) Listen to the following dialogue:
CHE TEMPO FA? (What’s the weather like?)
Veronica: Buongiorno ragazze! Sono le 7.30 e stamattina è una splendida giornata!
Giorgia: Che bello! Possiamo uscire in giro per la città tutto il giorno!
Manuela: Ieri non era bello. La pioggia improvvisa ha rovinato i nostri piani.
Giorgia: Pazienza, per fortuna oggi c’è il sole, caldo e luminoso, e neanche una nuvola!
Veronica: Io propongo di andare a visitare il Duomo. È una cattedrale molto antica, famosa in tutto il mondo!
Manuela/Giorgia: Ok, facciamo una buona colazione e alle 9.00 usciamo!
2) The weather:
Sole: splendere – brillare
È una splendida giornata! (It’s a beautiful day!)
Il sole splende! (The sun’s shining.)
Pioggia: piovere
Ieri è piovuto! (It rained yesterday.)
Giorgia ha paura del temporale! (Giorgia is afraid of thunderstorms!)
Vento: soffiare
Il vento è forte, le nuvole in cielo corrono veloci!
(There’s a strong wind and the clouds are moving fast!)
Neve: nevicare, (cadere)
La temperatura segna 0°, forse stanotte nevica.
(The temperature is 0°. Maybe it will snow tonight.)

3) Telling the time:
We can use the following expressions and words to ask the time and tell the time.
