Italian Grammar: Expressing consequence

We introduce the consequence of an action with the following expressions:

  • in modo che,
  • cosicché,
  • così.. da,
  • etc.

Examples:

Abbiamo ripassato così tanto da saperlo a memoria. / We went over it so often that we knew it by heart.

Devi chiamarlo, in modo da chiarire la situazione. / You have to call him so that you can clear up the situation.

Abbiamo preparato tutto così bene da evitare il minimo errore. / We prepared everything so well in order to avoid any type of error.

Ti ho lasciato libera stasera, cosicchè tu possa organizzarti. / I've left you free this evening so that you could get organised.
