Italian Grammar: ADVERBS OF PLACE

The adverbs of place used most in Italian are:

qui (here)

qua (here)

To indicate a place near to where the person is speaking.

lì (there)

là (there)

To indicate a place far away from where the person is speaking.

Es:

Qui fa freddo e ? (It's cold here. What about there?)

Qua c'è caldo e ? (It's hot here. What about there?)

"Qui vicino" is a common expression used to reinforce the idea of vicinity.

Es:

Qui vicino ci sono un ristorante e una pizzeria. (There is a restaurant and pizzeria near here.)
